Frequently asked questions

Widgets refresh whenever you change something in Dayward and roll over within about ten minutes of midnight. If a widget looks stale, open Dayward once; it refreshes every widget on launch. Some launchers delay widget updates while the phone is in battery saver.

Every occasion that widget was showing has been deleted. Tap the widget to choose another, or open Dayward → Widgets → Configure.

I did not get a reminder

Reminders are ordinary notifications. Check that notifications are allowed for Dayward in Android Settings → Apps → Dayward → Notifications. Android may delay reminders by up to an hour to save battery, and battery-saver modes on some phones delay them further. Reminders are re-armed automatically after a restart.

How is the day count calculated?

Dayward counts calendar days in your phone's time zone: the number of midnights between today and the occasion. Daylight-saving changes never alter the count. A yearly occasion rolls over to the next year the day after it happens.

What happens to a 29 February occasion?

In years without a 29 February you choose, in the editor, whether it counts on 28 February or 1 March. The choice is shown on the occasion's page.

How do I move my occasions to a new phone?

Settings → Backup and restore → Save backup file, then copy that .zip to the new phone and choose Open backup file. Widget placements belong to your home screen and are not part of the backup.

Does Dayward need the internet?

No. Dayward has no internet permission. Nothing you enter leaves your phone unless you share an image or save a backup file yourself.

How do I delete my data?

Delete an occasion from its page (with undo), or use Settings → Delete all Dayward data. Uninstalling removes everything Dayward stored. There is no server copy to delete. See the privacy policy.
